The Kansas City Killers:
What’s next for the 3 Kings of the Ring?
By Josh Ray

From left to right: Wrestling Revival Cup Champion "The Rebel" Jeremy Wyatt, HVW Livewire Champion Mike Sydal, and NWA Central States Champion Mark Sterling.
At HVW’s 1st anniversary celebration, Mark Sterling, Jeremy Wyatt, and Mike Sydal came together to form a group that they call the Kansas City Killers. In the course of one evening, this stable of top-shelf Midwest talent took Granite City by storm:
- Mike Sydal (as a crowd favorite) defeated six other men for the vacant HVW Livewire Title
- “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt legitimized his run as Wrestling Revival Cup Champion by defeating “The Little Hooligan” Neil Diamond Cutter
- Mark Sterling, the NWA Central States Champion, went hold-for-hold with HVW Midwest Heavyweight Champion, Kahagas
All three men seemed to be individually riding high in the wrestling organization that aims to “shock the wrestling world”.
Then it happened. A prophetic statement by Mark Sterling earlier in the evening to Kahagas came to pass when Wyatt and Sydal joined him in a brutal display. Just how the formation of this group came to pass is unknown, but the specifics of the end of “Encore” are a part of St. Louis wrestling history.
In the main event as Kahagas put his title up against Sterling’s NWA Central States Title and looked to be coming out as the victor, Jeremy Wyatt hit the ring and viciously attacked “The Tokyo Monster”. Sterling and Wyatt continued a brutal beating of Kahagas until Mike Sydal hit the ring to a chorus of cheers. There were five or ten seconds of hesitation in the eyes of the young PWI Rookie of the Year hopeful and then BAMMMMMM! A superkick to Kahagas’ head courtesy of Sydal sent the fans into a state of disbelief. The three men continued to beat HVW’s top man before finally being forced out of the ring by The Hooligans and their little brother Neil.
Sydal grabbed the microphone and told the fans that he had long since forsaken his claim of St. Louis as a hometown for the far superior Kansas City. He and his partners were in St. Louis to make a statement, and that statement was that there is not a single man who can possibly compete with them.
While Devin and Mason Cutter, along with their little Hooligan brother Neil have the most cohesive mentality in HVW right now, I am uncertain as to who can stop the newly formed Kansas City Killers from totally taking over the company. The Hooligans did save Kahagas at “Encore” but it appears that he is unwilling to join their group in an all-out stable war. The Bandana Mafia are too consumed with defeating the Hooligans for the tag team titles to be concerned with the supergroup. What’s next for the Kansas City Killers, the 3 Kings of the Ring?
My gut reaction is this prediction: Sterling, Sydal, and Wyatt will lay claim to all major titles in HVW by the end of the year. Their blitzkrieg could possibly thrust deep into 2010 before anyone is able to mount an effective counter offensive. Sterling or Wyatt could conceivably defeat Kahagas, and any mixture of the three could upset the Hooligans for the tag straps.
Another possibility is that these three add another man to their group, similar to the tried and true strategy made famous by the legendary Four Horsemen. There is seemingly no end to the number of talents that could be employed by the Kansas City Killers. Presumably after talent from Kansas City, these men could hunt up young and talented thoroughbreds such as Kraig Keesaman or Tyler Cook. They could also bring legendary Kansas City indy wrestlers Derek Stone or Michael Strider, bringing them out of inactive status to serve as a mentor like Ric Flair recently with Evolution in WWE.
Simply speaking, the Kansas City Killers could prove to be the most dominant group in recent Midwest memory!
